Larian Studios developed Baldur’s Gate 3
In a gaming world flooded with microtransactions, battle passes, and endless live-service models, Baldur’s Gate 3 stands as a rare and refreshing success story.
Without flashy cosmetics, daily login rewards, or aggressive monetization, Larian Studios has confirmed that Baldur’s Gate 3 has sold over 15 million copies — and it’s still going strong.

How did they do it?
Simple: they made a game players actually wanted.
Before Baldur’s Gate 3 launched, things didn’t look so bright for Larian Studios.
The company had just reported €214,000 in losses, a painful reminder of how risky and expensive it is to develop massive RPGs today. Many studios might have panicked, and some might have chased quick profits through microtransactions, battle passes, or rushed releases.
Larian didn’t.
Instead, they doubled down on quality, storytelling, and respect for their players. And now, that gamble has paid off in spectacular fashion.
According to the Irish Independent, Baldur’s Gate 3 has sold 15 million copies, helping Larian earn €249 million in pre-tax profits. This is one of the most significant financial turnarounds in modern gaming history.
